Availability of E-Visas for Employment Purposes
What’s new
- Effective 1 Aug 2017, eVisas specifically for work permit purposes were made available to applicants of *ten (10) nationalities.
- The application can be made online from anywhere in the world except Malaysia and Singapore.
- Processing time is estimated at 48 hours
- The eVisa must be printed on a A4 format and shown at point of entry to Malaysia.
What was it like before?
- eVisas were only for social / business purposes
- When getting a Visa for purposes of employment in Malaysia, the applicants had to manually submit the application to the Malaysian Embassy/Consulate/High Commission in their home country or country of residence.
What’s the impact?
This is certainly an improvement to the process as it is now more time and cost efficient seeing that the applicants of those 10 countries no longer need to manually submit the application or make physical appearances to get the Visa. It can now be done online in an estimated 48 hours.
